Operations & Maintenance (including Infiltration & Inflow)
|MWRA performs routine maintenance of the sewer system, the sewage treatment plant, and the sludge pelletizing plant. MWRA must submit annual status reports on maintenance activities to EPA and DEP, and submit a summary report of all actions taken to reduce infiltration/inflow during the previous fiscal year. Government regulators must also be notified when there is an operational incident or upset at an MWRA facility.
| OMSAP Meetings
||The Outfall Monitoring Science Advisory Panel (OMSAP) advises the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on scientific and technical matters related to MWRA's bay outfall and any potential impacts of the discharge on its receiving waters.
MWRA must submit to regulators a comprehensive pollution prevention plan that addresses households and industries discharging in MWRA's sewer service area. The plan includes steps for identifying and controlling sources of PCBs, and for containing chemical spills.
