Watersheet Activation Plan for the Fort Point Channel

MWRA Projects Exceed Plans set in 2002 Watersheet Activation Plan

The MWRA worked with the Boston Redevelopment Authority and many Fort Point Channel stakeholders to develop the Watersheet Activation Plan, released in May 2002. MWRA's 2004 combined sewer overflow control projects for the Fort Point Channel go even further than the CSO discharge assumptions outlined in the plan.

The Activation Plan applauds the substantial water quality benefits of the CSO projects. It then appropriately highlights the continuing need to address water quality degradation caused by stormwater flows. The plan recommended the creation of a Water Quality Task Force of city, state and environmental participants to study and address the issue.

MWRA is ready to fully participate in the Task Force when it is created.
