Ways to Save Water

There is only so much clean water in the world, once we use it all, it's gone. There are a few ways your community can help make a difference to save water. One great way to save water is to start with your house. Install non-drip faucets, and make sure to patch all leaks. Another great thing to do is install automatic sprinklers. Program them to go off once a day for 15 minutes. Make sure they are watering your garden and grass, not your sidewalk.

If you are more serious about water conservation, go to your town hall. Make sure that they check regularly to see if any pipes are leaking, and fix them if they are. Also, if your town has fountains, make sure the fountain reuses the water. Having a fountain going every hour of the day can waste thousands of gallons if the water isn't reused.
Another great way to save water is to ask your towns' restaurants to serve water only upon request. This may seem like the restaurant is cheesy, but it makes a huge difference. A lot of water is wasted is restaurants because people don't drink what they are given.

The best way to conserve water around your community is to spread the word. Create posters, tell your peers, announce it at assemblies, do whatever you can to spread awareness. If everyone in the town of Winchester saved 1 gallon of water a day by either shortening their showers, or not leaving the faucet on when they brushed their teeth, the town of Winchester would save 7,300,000 gallons of water a year. EVERY DROP COUNTS!

If everyone in the world saved a gallon a day, we would save 255,500,000,000 gallons of water a year. There are people in the world who don't even use a gallon of water a day, but you get my point.
