Boston Harbor

The greatest benefit of a clean Boston Harbor is providing a safe environment for kids today and in the future. There are also many other benefits for keeping it clean. Fish, birds and plants that live in or use the water will be safe. It will also give people a clean and fun place to stay.

First, fish are affected the most. They live beneath the water. They breathe and feed on the plants in the water. If the water is polluted, they can’t escape it. Their home is not safe.

Secondly, ducks and birds are also affected. Ducks like to swim in the water, but if it’s polluted, they could get sick and die. Birds also like to swim in the water and eat fish. If the water is polluted, fish will get sick and die. Birds would then have nothing to eat.

Also, seafood such as lobster, crabs, clams and shrimp would not be good to eat. People could get food poisoning. Fishermen would lose a lot of business.

Finally, people use the ocean and beaches for sports, relaxation and enjoyment. Sailing, rowing and canoeing would not be as much fun. Swimming would not be allowed because of health reasons.

All in all, a clean Boston Harbor benefits the entire Boston community. It is probably the most important environmental project Boston has ever done. I hope we can keep it clean and safe.
