MWRA Maintenance Work Will Cause Temporary Interruption
of Water Service at Some Chestnut Hill
Locations

Update 11/26/2019
This work has been rescheduled for Monday, December 2, 2019.

On Monday, December 2, 2019, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be performing maintenance work at a meter near the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum, 2450 Beacon Street at the Chestnut Hill Reservoir, which will improve fire flow capacity.

The work will take place between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and will cause a temporary interruption of water service to local Boston water mains that supply the following addresses:

2400 Beacon Street

20 Beacon Street

2420 Beacon Street

325 Reservoir Road

2430 Beacon Street

326 Reservoir Road

2450 Beacon Street

330 Reservoir Road

2496 Beacon Street

21 Malia Terrace

26 Beacon Street

Normal water service will be restored at the end of the work day. Although not expected, discolored water may be possible for 1 to 2 days following this work. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

If you have any questions, please contact Jeff McLaughlin at 617-305-5762, or MWRA’s 24-hour drinking water line at 617-305-5950.
