Water Connection Work in Newton to Begin September 16

Please be advised beginning next week, September 16, 2019, the MWRA’s contractor, WES, will start their connection into the 48-inch water line located within the Commonwealth Avenue Carriage Lane. This work involves placement of signage, temporary road barriers, temporary fencing, survey markings within the street, and the placement of equipment in preparation for roadway excavation. Work will take place Monday through Friday, 7AM-4PM.  There may be occasions where work may extend to 7PM.

This connection will take approximately eight weeks to complete.

The MWRA and our contractor met with officials from the City of Newton, including the police department.  For the public’s safety and the expedition of this work, the Carriage Lane will be closed between Valentine Street and Wauwinet Road.

Once again, during this phase of work, the Newton Police Department will allow residents who live between Wauwinet Road and Valentine Street to travel in either direction on the Carriage Lane in order access their homes.

Water service to your home will not be interrupted.

The MWRA and our contractor appreciate your cooperation during this important water improvement project.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact MWRA Community Coordinator, Jeffrey McLaughlin at (617) 305-5762 or jeffrey.mclaughlin@mwra.com.
