MWRA Work May Cause Discolored Water in Parts of Revere

work location

On Monday, November 26, 2018, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be performing a trial meter isolation at Salem Street and Liberty Avenue in Revere. This work has been coordinated with the City of Revere. No service interruptions are expected during this trial isolation; the area will continue to be supplied by other active meters to Revere’s distribution network.

Areas northwest of Malden Street may experience discolored water during the isolation. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

Pending results of the trial isolation, the following Wednesday, November 28, 2018, MWRA will begin excavating for water valve work along Salem Street near Route 1, see map (PDF). This work is expected to take one week to complete.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact MWRA Community Relations Manager, Jeffrey McLaughlin at (617) 305-5762 or jeffrey.mclaughlin@mwra.com.
