MWRA Water Pipeline Work May Cause Water Discoloration in Wakefield

map of area stoneham

On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, MWRA will activate a new section of water pipeline and a new meter that serves the Town of Wakefield. The activations may result in discolored water in northwestern areas of Wakefield (see map, PDF)

This activation may cause temporarily discolored water.  If this does occur, please do not do laundry at this time, as it could stain light colored clothing. Residents should wait for the water to clear before using it. If you experience discolored water, you may want to run your COLD WATER ONLY at the kitchen faucet or outside spigot until the water clears.

This work is part of MWRA’s Northern Intermediate High project to provide water system redundancy to Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester and Woburn.

If you have any questions, please contact Jeff McLaughlin, (617) 305-5762 or MWRA’s 24-hour water line at (617) 305-5860.
