MWRA to Perform Valve Replacement in Roslindale
Work May Affect Traffic and Cause Discolored Water

Beginning Sunday, September 11, 2016, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be replacing two large water valves on New Washington Street in Roslindale, near the Arborway. This work will require excavations within the roadway that will require a lane shutdown for each valve. The work will be performed at nighttime - from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am - to minimize traffic impacts, and is scheduled to be completed by October 6, 2016.

There is a slight possibility that this work will result in discolored water. If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

If you have any questions, please contact Jeff McLaughlin at (617) 305-5762, or MWRA's 24-hour water line at (617) 305-5950.
