MWRA Work May Cause Discolored Water in Areas of Somerville, Increased Pressure in Other Communities

On Wednesday night, May 18, 2016, the MWRA will be performing work on a water pipeline in Somerville that may cause discolored water for residents and businesses at Assembly Square for up to 48 hours after the work.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. Please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents may want to wait for the water to clear before using it.

The communities of Chelsea, East Boston, Everett, Malden and Medford may see a slight increase in water pressure, but no discolored water.

If you have any questions, please call Jeff McLaughlin at (617) 305-5762, or MWRA's 24-hour water line at (617) 305-5950.
