Since 2002, the park surrounding the Deer Island Treatment Plant has been enjoyed by thousands of people each year. The park features five miles of public walkways and trails for walking, jogging, sightseeing, picnicking, fishing and bicycling.

Lately, there has been a growing concern over some bicyclists using excessive speed and behaving recklessly on the trails.

MWRA has posted new signage to help remind bicyclists of the following rules:

• Be courteous
• Keep right
• Do not impede other trail users

Dog owners are also reminded that dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and to clean up after their dogs.

The public access area is open to the public year-round, from sunrise to sunset and is a great resource. By following these few simple rules, everyone will be able to enjoy the park safely.
