Beginning April 3, 2012, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be installing a new water revenue meter on Perkins Street between Mount Pleasant and Caldwell Streets (behind the Mount Vernon Restaurant).

There will be no water service interruptions associated with this work. However, Charlestown residents may notice discolored water for the first few days.

This work is expected to last about 2 months and involves many water interconnections as well as the installation of the large meter itself.

MWRA’s contractor, RJV Construction, will be working from 7AM to 4PM, Monday through Friday. Parking restrictions and detours will be in place during construction activity and excavated areas will be plated over at the end of each day.

The Somerville Police will be assisting the MWRA and the contractor during this time.

Project updates will be posted here.
