MWRA Pipeline Work May Cause Temporary Water Discoloration
in Arlington, Belmont and Portions of Winchester

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be re-activating a section of water pipeline in Arlington on Thursday, August 26, 2010. This work may cause discolored water in Arlington, Belmont, Lexington and portions of Winchester - in the areas of Pond Street, Norfolk Road, Ardley Road, Chesterford Road and Inverness Road - for up to 48 hours after the work is completed.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in the pipes. While safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work. Please call MWRA at 617-305-5950 if you have any questions.
