MWRA Work In Arlington May Cause Discolored Water

MORE INFORMATION
glass of water

On Thursday, March 25, 2010, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be performing work in support of its Section 28 Suction to Brattle Court Pump Station Rehabilitation, which will involve the isolation and de-watering of a portion of a water line in Arlington.

This work may cause discolored water for up to 3 days in the Spy Pond Area generally bounded by Route 60 and the Alewife Brook Parkway. No changes in water pressure losses are expected.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in the pipes. While safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work. Please call MWRA at (617) 305-5950 if you have any concerns.
