ADVISORY BOARD VISITS THREE MAJOR SEWER SITES |
|
On August 20, members of the MWRA Advisory Board, including water and sewer officials from 61 cities and towns, visited three MWRA sewer facilities. The tour began at the Deer Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, where MWRA Executive Director Frederick Laskey and staff updated officials on recent renewable energy improvements. Next, the group visited Nut Island in Quincy, a popular public access site and the location of a headworks facility. The tour ended at the Biosolids Processing Center, where disinfected sludge from the Deer Island is recycled into Bay State Fertilizer. The MWRA Advisory Board was created by Legislature in 1984 and represents the interests of MWRA service area communities and ratepayers. ### Updated August 24, 2009 |
