PUBLIC MEETING: UPCOMING MWRA SEWER PROJECT IN NEWTON

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 to provide an overview of construction of the Upper Neponset Valley Relief Sewer Project.

The $8.3 million project involves the installation of roughly 8,000 linear feet of new sewer lines through St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Old Farm Road, Grace Road, Wayne Road and the Kessler Woods Conservation Area. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and last through Spring 2008.

The public meeting will be held at Temple Beth Avodah, 45 Puddingstone Lane, Newton Center, at 7:00 P.M.
Under this project, MWRA will replace the existing 100-year-old sewer to provide greater flow capacity and greatly reduce the current surcharging and sanitary sewer overflows into wetlands and brooks.

In October, the construction contract was awarded to Albanese Brothers, Inc. of Dracut. This meeting will provide an opportunity for project neighbors to meet the contractor and ask specific questions about the project and the construction schedule.

If you have any questions, please call Len Cawley at MWRA (617) 660-7972. MWRA urges residents along the route to attend this important public meeting.
