MWRA Retirement System Receives AAA Rating by Standard & Poor's

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority Retirement System has announced that it has been rated by Standard and Poor’s, the first retirement system in Massachusetts to request and receive a rating.

The system received a rating of AAA, which is the top grade given by Standard and Poor’s. In its report, the rating agency said that the high grade was a reflection of the MWRA’s fundamental credit strength and the solid funding record of the retirement system itself, which includes a conservative asset allocation strategy.

The MWRA retirement system has been 100% funded since January 1st of 1997.

The MWRA is an independent state agency established in 1985 to provide water and sewer services to most of eastern Massachusetts. The retirement system covers 1500 employees.
